Only the US Senate can approve treaties - Our country has not yet approved several that our delegations helped write.  Let Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris know that these need to be moved back onto the Senate agenda!  (Click on senators' name above to link to their websites.)
International treaties and conventions not yet ratified by the Senate:

*  Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
*  Convention on the Rights of the Child
*  Convention on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women
*  Law of the Sea Treaty

The United Nations and you!

Members of the Chapters and Divisions of United Nation Association are encouraged to connect with their elected leaders to promote such issues as US financing to the UN, Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), protection of universal healthcare rights and the ratification of international treaties. Meetings with Congressional representatives are supported through expert resources provided by the UN Association of the USA that help facilitate discussions.

UNA-USA grew to become the primary advocate of the United Nations. It boasts 20,000 members in 200 chapters nationwide.

For over 70 years, United Nations Association of the United States of America has worked to accomplish its mission through its national network of Chapters, youth engagement, advocacy efforts, education programs, and public events both on local and national level.

Your participation in UNA-OC networking groups, advocacy events, and educational meetings throughout the year, is reminding how important the United Nations is for us here in Orange County!

Things Not to Do:

Don't.png

Don’t make up an answer. It’s okay not to know. If you find yourself in your meeting and you’re not sure of an answer to a question, it’s okay. Just let the person know that either you or someone from the UNA-USA National Office will get back to them with an answer to their question shortly.

Don't become confrontational or mention your party affiliation. UNA-OC and UNA-USA are nonpartisan organizations, and we try to work with all Members of Congress to build support for the United Nations. Please do not reveal your party affiliation or discuss who you did or didn’t vote for, as this may risk alienating an office and weaken the effectiveness of your meeting.

Don’t record audio or video during your meeting. Congressional offices typically do not want their meetings with constituents recorded or videotaped.
