Afghan Panel Discussion

The event was a vibrant celebration of the rich and diverse culture of Afghanistan, honoring the resilience and contributions of Afghan refugees residing in Orange County. Through art, and storytelling, we immersed ourselves in the beauty of Afghan traditions while shedding light on the challenges faced by the Afghan diaspora, particularly women, in the United States.

The Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) is a crucial international legal instrument dedicated to promoting and protecting women's equal rights in areas such as education, employment, health, political and public life, legal rights, social and economic benefits, and the elimination of harmful stereotypes.

Our event was graced by the presence of Elahe Amani, a distinguished gender, peace, and human rights activist. With a remarkable track record within the California State University System, Elahe has been instrumental in advancing women's rights. She served as Deputy Director of Title IX, where she played a pivotal role in shaping educational and policy initiatives designed to foster gender equality and empower women across various spheres.


Vista Meridian Global Academy Speaker Event

The event featured two outstanding speakers who shared their insights on education and student engagement, offering transformative approaches to integrating global issues into the classroom.

Event highlight

Dr. Catherine Real, the school’s director, drew on her doctoral research at UCLA, which focuses on enhancing student engagement emotionally, behaviorally, and cognitively through career preparation. She shared strategies to better prepare students for the future by fostering deeper involvement in their own educational journeys.

Roxanne S. Alessandro, an educator spanning both elementary and middle school levels, showcased her dedication to instilling a lifelong passion for learning. With years of experience, she emphasized the importance of nurturing curiosity and continuous learning in young students, ensuring they are well-equipped to face global challenges.
