UN Day Gala Dinner
Celebrating Sustainability in Orange County
Join us to celebrate the Founding of the United Nations (by the US on October 24, 1945) in a special Gala Dinner Event. This special event, hosted by the United Nations Association of Orange County, promises to be an inspiring and informative gathering that underscores the significance of promoting and implementing the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Event Highlights:
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Joshua B. Fisher
Dr. Fisher is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science and Policy at the Schmid College of Science and Technology, Chapman University. His work as a Climate Scientist focuses on terrestrial ecosystems, water, carbon, and nutrient cycling. Dr. Fisher utilizes a unique combination of remote sensing, supercomputer models, and field campaigns, spanning from the Amazon to the Arctic. He completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees from UC Berkeley and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Oxford.
Dr. Fisher's impressive career includes over a decade as a NASA Scientist at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and serving as the founding Science Lead for the ECOSTRESS mission on the International Space Station. He currently holds the position of Science Lead for Hydrosat and has authored over 200 publications. Dr. Fisher is recognized as one of the world's "most influential" researchers, consistently ranking in the top 0.1% of scientists with papers in the top 1% by citations for the past 5 years in a row.
